  4. The FireWire SDK contains the following:

  15. Note: There is currently no plan to provide the sample extensions included in the SDK to end-customers.

  22. PREVIOUS VERSIONS:
  23. If you have a previous version of the FireWire SDK:
  24. This SDK completely replaces all previous versions.  Remove earlier versions of the Extensions and place the new extensions in your Extensions Folder.

  26. CHANGES FROM FIREWIRE 2.1 SDK DR3:
  27. - FireWire 2.2 basically adds support for 1394 Open HCI interfaces in new Apple products such as the Power Macintosh G4.  A number of other changes were made to support FireWire booting, but this feature is not yet complete.  See the file FireWire 2.2.pdf in the White Papers folder for more information.  Note that FireWire 2.2 is GM.

  29. TOOLS:
  30. You will need Macintosh Programming Workshop (MPW) version 3.4 or later to build the sample code.  You can download the latest version of MPW from the Apple MPW Tool Zone web page at <http://developer.apple.com/dev/tools/mpw-tools/index.html>.  If you have MPW from the ETO CDs, we recommend that you use ETO 23 along with the latest headers and libraries from Apple to compile the sample code.

  32. SOFTWARE and HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
  33. We recommend that you use Mac OS 8.5 or Mac OS 8.6 with this SDK.
